Leeds Cathedral School Choir
Leeds College of Music presenting Robin Smith ( the Chair of the Leeds Cathedral choir school) with a cheque following a performance lead by their students in March 2017.
Leeds Cathedral choir school is a unique school singing initiative for the children at Holy Rosary & St Anne’s primary school. All children from nursery to Year 6 receive professional singing lessons & practice to enable them to sing at the Leeds Cathedral, Holy Rosary & St Anne’s Catholic Church. The children have represented Leeds at Trinity & All Saints college to perform at major events.
We work in partnership with Leeds College of Music, who support the Choir School financially to provide development for their students to come & complete work placements at a primary school teaching young children to sing & develop the skills of teaching.
We are the only state primary school to offer a Cathedral choir school at no cost to parents & families, this is a wonderful option for children that has shown to support their development in learning English & improving their academic development.
This is only possible through the kind donations from our sponsors.
The Cathedral Choir were awarded first place in the Choir Class (11 and under) at the Rothwell Festival on the 22nd March. The children were delighted to bring the Rodillian Shield back to school with them, and to build on their success at the Mrs Sunderland Festival in 2012, where they won first place in the Novice Choir Class.
The Leeds Cathedral Choir school performed at the Leeds Town Hall along with the rest of the school for a special lunchtime performance to the public, Leeds College of Music supported the school with their excellent musicians.
