What the school does well
● The school is an oasis in the community with a warm, welcoming and caring environment
for pupils, staff and parents.
● The school is the Leeds Cathedral Choir School and, consequently, prayer and liturgy are
significantly enhanced because all sing with joy, reverence and enthusiasm.
● Staff benefit from high quality professional development; consequently, teachers’ subject
knowledge and confidence to lead prayer and liturgy are rapidly improving.
● The links between school, home and parish are strong and this ensures that all are
supported in their faith journey.
● The head teacher and deputy head teacher are authentic Catholic leaders who
demonstrate a genuine commitment to the most vulnerable.
What the school needs to improve
● Create a comprehensive skills strategy that shows clear progress for pupil led worship.
● Ensure that the pace of lessons enables pupils to do more, show more and understand
more.
● Make the principles of Catholic social teaching more explicit so that pupils understand
the theology underpinning them
