The Curriculum in a Catholic School
‘In your Catholic schools, there is always a bigger picture over and above the individual subjects you study, the different skills you learn. All the work you do is placed in the context of growing in friendship with God, and that all that flows from that friendship. So learn not just to be good students, but good citizens, good people. A good school provides a rounded education for the whole person and a good Catholic school, over and above this, should help all its students to become saints!’
Pope Benedict XVI The Big Assembly, Twickenham, 2010
Our RE curriculum is taught by class teachers based on The Way the Trust and the Life (KS2) and Lighting the Path scheme (EYFS and KS1).
Other Faiths are taught inline with Leeds Agreed Syllabus of festivals in EYFS, then studying individual religions (i.e. Judaism in Y1, Islam Y2, Sikhism Y3, Judaism Y4) before studying themes with all the faiths e.g. prayer, birth rituals etc. Students all have the chance to visit a place of worship over their time at HRSA
Relationships and Sex Education is taught inline with the Catholic Church teaching using ten:ten scheme
