Holy Rosary And St Anne's Catholic Primary School

Excellence & Enjoyment Together in God's Love

PE and Sport Grant

Here at Holy Rosary and St Anne’s Catholic primary school we recognise the importance of physical education at all levels. The need for physical exercise is vital for young people to lead healthy lifestyles. Physical education has a positive impact on the mental as well as physical well-being of children and for this reason we offer a broad range of activities, both within the school curriculum and as part of our extra-curricular provision.

PE and Sports Grant

Purpose of the grant

As part of the legacy of the 2012 London Olympics, the government is providing £150 million of funding to improve provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools. This funding is allocated to primary schools in order for them to embed the provision of high quality PE, sport and physical activity in schools.

The additional funding is allocated to enable schools to increase opportunities for children, parents/carers and the local community to take part in PE, physical activity and sport. These opportunities, as part of a broader promotion of physical and emotional health and well-being, are expected to increase attainment and lead to accelerated progress for pupils.

We have a clear strategic approach to the use of our School PE and Sports Funding and plans are integrated into wider school improvement systems and approaches. Robust leadership ensures that the funding has the necessary impact.
